Bombers Eggbutt Lock Up is a single-jointed bridoon bit with lock-up function offering a stable feel to the hands of the rider.
This Eggbutt Lock Up bit has fixed cheeks pieces that prevent the bit from being pulled through the mouth. The lock-up function of the Eggbutt Lock Up bit removes the ‘nut cracker’ action of conventional snaffles, making it a milder bit than other single-jointed bits. The Bombers bits are all handmade in sweet iron and brass metals that have a warming effect and sweet taste in the horse’s mouth and as a result, promote increased salivation. The length and width of the bit is specified in millimetres.
Bombers’ philosophy is that bits often put pressure on the tongue resulting in the horse resisting the bit which in turn, results in poorer communication between horse and rider. In order to improve communications, increase control and stop the horse to resist the bit, the pressure on its tongue must be removed. By distributing the pressure across a larger area of the mouth, the pressure is reduced and the horse starts to resist less. This is the concept behind the Bombers bits that we see on the market today.
